About Us

Sidmouth Sailing Club is a members-only volunteer-run club, and an RYA Recognised Training Centre. We are inspected by the RYA each year, and are certified to teach sailing to adults and children over 10 years old. Our RYA training is provided in club-owned boats by club members who are trained instructors.

We also run informal taster sessions. These are designed to give you a chance to try out being in a boat and sailing with an experienced club sailor.

In 2017 we will again be running an RYA Push The Boat Out event, building on the success of last year. This is like taster session and is run as an all-day bookable event open to the public.

Our training fleet includes Toppers, RS Fevas, RS Qubas and an RS Vision. We have safety boat provision during all of our dourses and taster sessions. We have some sailing kit and buoyancy aids that can be borrowed if required.

Please see below for details of our RYA courses, taster sessions and Push The Boat Out. For more information, email Scott: genvavat@fvqzbhgufnvyvat.bet.hx or telephone 01395 579804.

Taster Sessions – £15 per session

Saturday 6th May and Saturday 15th July

These sessions will take place from 10:30 to approximately 12:30, where trainees will get to sail with an experienced helm in a Scorpion, Feva, Vision or Mirror. Safety cover is provided whilst on the water by our own patrol boats. Junior participants must be aged 10 and above.  More details will be sent on application.

The cost of these sessions will also give temporary membership to the club for the duration of the session. If however a family membership “one sailing” is taken out where one child signs up to the sessions or “two or more sailing” where two children reserve places, the session costs are included at no extra charge. Likewise, new adults to the club taking 2017 membership will pay no session fees.

Should you wish to continue sailing at Sidmouth Sailing Club after the taster sessions you are invited to become a member of the club, for which the following special introductory membership rates apply:
